Jackie Berry
A resident of Hurst, Texas Jackie Berry received her formal education and Bachelors Degree from Woman’s University, Texas with extensive
studies in art history in England and Scotland.
Exhibitions include the Firehouse Gallery and Philip Combs Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas in addition to numerous other exhibitions. She was a

Sandra Lynn Brennecke
Background:
Sandra Lynn Brennecke, a healer, nurse, teacher, artist and lover of life: some of the many treasured Spirit given gifts that are avenues through
which Sandy has created and worked with her life lessons. Artistically she finds joy in working with precious metals and color; the freedom to
play with both is reflected in her creations. From whimsical to elegant, the delight of discovery and pride of workmanship is evident in every
piece. Sandy and her husband are full time RV’ers since her husband’s retirement in 2002. Born into a military family, she has traveled
extensively and still finds places she would love to visit. Although the Seattle area is where she settled after serving as a nurse in Vietnam and
where she raised her six children, she finds the South West with its beautiful red rocks and friendly people nurturing and creatively stimulating;
something that keeps calling her back to refresh and renew.
Mary Lois Brown
My husband Doug and I built our first home in the White Mountains of Eastern Arizona giving me a new opportunity for adventure and
landscapes. I prefer to paint out doors “Plein Air” and am equally as comfortable doing studio work painting images of horses, old buildings
and still life’s either from outdoor studies or from my own photographs.
Since 2000, I have completed several Plein Air classes taught by William Scott Jennings in Sedona, Arizona. I am a member of the Art Alliance of
the White Mountains, where I received, in 2004, first place in the annual juried summer painting exhibition. In 2005, I was honored to have a
painting selected to be in the top 100 Arts for Parks Competition and in 2006, I fulfilled a longtime dream of traveling down into the Grand Canyon
on a river painting excursion to paint with other artists. Works created on this excursion were exhibited at the Sedona Art Center. I am now a full
time resident of Sedona, Arizona.
Royce Carlson
Background:
Royce Carlson creates whimsical welded steel sculptures and architectural oddities using found objects, recycled materials and new steel. He
creates his sculptures in Prescott, Arizona. "I work with recycled steel, found objects, and steel tubing, rebar, etc. I like that I can turn
what would ordinarily be considered waste into art. Steel is a versatile material. It is malleable and can be readily shaped with the proper tools
and it is strong and durable while also having flexibility. This is perfect for outdoor pieces. Being I create out of joy this is reflected in my
work. My style is whimsical, happy and generally pretty abstract. I know I have created a good piece if it makes me smile when I see it. I am
self-taught and believe that to be an advantage rather than a hindrance. Among other things, formal training teaches the "rules" about how to
make "good art." If there is anywhere that rules should be broken, it is with art." Royce was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1953. When
he was one year old his family moved to Southern California. He went to college at California State University, Fullerton but did not graduate.
Yep, he's a dropout! He moved to Washington state in the mid-70's, lived in a commune and had such a great time that the normal world of careers, etc. lost
its appeal completely. After some years of unsatisfying attempts to fit himself into the corporate, upwardly-mobile world of the
American Dream, he "dropped out" again when he moved to Prescott, Arizona in 1991. Since then, Royce has worked mostly as an artist
although lean times sometimes caused him to fall back on his skills in construction and "handyman" activities. He has no formal artistic training.
Until 1999, he was an abstract painter working in acrylic. Welded steel sculpture is a fairly recent thing. Lately, he has been filling his yard with
junk steel. He loves to get up in the morning, go to his shop, and decide what he's going to make today. He is a happy guy and lives with his
wife, Juanita, who is also a sculptor.
Monika Cate
Background:
Monika Cate, a master stained glass artist, was born in Germany and has lived and worked in Sedona since 1987. She studied art at the Art
University in Braunschweig, Germany from 1975 to 1978. From from 1983 to 1987 Monica was the owner of a highly successful stained glass
business where she designed one of a kind custom made lamps, mirrors and windows. She went into production with her designs and the
assistance of twenty employees, marketing her stained glass throughout many parts of Germany. Since 1987, Monika has been further
working on and developing her original designs in her studio in Sedona Arizona. “Working in glass is very rewarding, to see how the light is
playing with colors and textures of glass in ever changing light conditions.”
Dale Ferguson
Background: Born in Oregon's Grande Ron Valley
in 1941, Dale Ferguson grew up in the mountains of Idaho and has spent his life there. His other "sense of place" was shaped by living for five
years in Arizona's Sonora desert and developing a love for the American southwest. Of Celtic decent, his direct-line ancestors include most of
the Kings of Scotland as well as a Cherokee grandmother from Arkansas of which his art reflects both heritages. Dale's work has been
described as being haunting, healing and a connection with the spirit; while his own personal definition of art is when it communicates with the
spirit it reachs it's highest potential. From the time he was a child he had a desire to be an artist; however, being life seems to take its own
turnshe spent most of it as a businessman and entrepreneur. In the 1980's he discovered he had a love for sculpture and was able to find time to
produce a number of bronzes for private collectors. Now retired from the business world he is able to pursue his dream of being an artist full
time. Other than bronze, Dale also creats art in fired clay, acrylic and other mixed media.
Thom Dougherty
The artists 'My Landscapes' series is work that Thom developed as a direct response to the stunning unpredictability of the natural area around Sedona. The red rocks, in particular, are architectural objects designed by the mix of wind, time, water and gravity while creeks with rushing water make the red rocks less severe and when they are next to one another the elements balance each other, as in warm/cold, static/moving, solid/liquid. As a painter this balance of nature helps Thom to find balance in his compositions.
Tom Fish
Tom's film credits include: The Lion King (young Nala);
Pocohontas (Misc. Settlers and Indians); Tarzan (Misc. Gorillas); The Legend of Mulan (Ling and Chien Po); Lilo and Stitch (Nani); Beauty and
the Beast Special Edition (Beast) and Brother Bear (Tanana and Misc. Bears). Following a ten year career as an animator Tom moved to
Sedona, Arizona to begin his lifelong ambition to paint full time. An avid golfer from the age of two Tom also paints golf landscapes. From
a distance his paintings appear to be photographic but as you move closer they progressively become more impressionistic. Ultimately
his paintings transcend the mere record of a place and reveal the artist's way of thinking. Tom is on his way to becoming a well recognized
artist with an increasing demand for his original artwork
Shermane Frei
Background:
Local Sedona artist Shermane Frei has a passion for the color and grain of wood wrom which she creates unique comositions. The use of
wood as a medium for art has always attracted Shermane. Initially she practiced carving and fine cabinet design. In 2004 she embraced the
art of turning wood on the lathe. She has since studied with master wood turners through the southwest and is currently a member of the
Prescott Woodturners as well as the American Association of Woodturners. Through her service as an archeological docent for the
Verde Valley area, she developed a deep appreciation for the historic Indian pottery and basketry design. This is reflected in the authentic
images and patterns she applies to many of her bowls and platters. When she is not turning wood Shermane finds joy in traveling in search
of the perfect piece that will become the medium for her creative hand and spirit.
Melvin John
Background:
Melvin John, Dine’ Artist, originally from Rainbow Springs / White Cone Arizona, currently resides with his wife and children in Tuba, City,
Arizona. His maternal clan is White Corn / Zuni-Edgewater Clan born for the Black Streak People Clan. Melvin is the youngest sibling of 10
children. As a young man he lived near Rainbow Springs in the mountains where his family herded sheep. “Slimnez”, John’s grandpa, was a
silversmith who traded food for supplies for his entire village and helped support the village by making spoons and pots. Melvin's talented art
consists of Metal Sculpture, Stainless Steel, Copper, Clay Masks and Acrylic Painting that reflects the Navajo Stories and way of life, taught to
him by his mother. During his childhood Melvin witnessed the process of sand painting. The Yei’s are the Navajo Holy Gods (Diety’s) who
heal the sick. I create “Healer Sculptures” of the Hohokum design. My Colors speak of the sky color and mother earth, the warm tones of
morning awakening.” He uses natural parrot tails from peyote fans, “feathers on which songs and prayers are carried.” The mouths of his
masks are made of bamboo and around the necks are symbols of juniper branches-the smell is believed to create a strongervoice. He credits
his mother, who is a highly respected Navajo Master Weaver and her teachings led him to many heights in his life. “She comes to guide me as
I work.” She informed him that one day his creativity will provide him abundance in his life. He just had to respect his work, discipline himself,
remain humble and never forget his people and origin.
Roberta Kinion
Background:
Roberta Kinion was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and her family moved to California when she was a young girl. Glen and Roberta Kinion moved to Sedona
in 1996 where they began Kinion Fine Homes, LLC.
Roberta's studies in Art History, photography and her attendance in art workshops gave her the incentive to create in clay, paper making, pastels
and acrylics. Her skills in display, design and business management combined with her enthusiasm for the arts has since led her to the ownership and managagement of Kinion Fine Art Gallery and the Sedona Art Vault in Uptown Sedona. Her abstract landscapes paintings, rich in texture and color and inspired by the Arizona landscape of mesas and sunsets offer expansiveness on an intimate scale. Roberta Kinion is an energentic, positive energy and mentor to the artists as well as a champion towards the continued success of the local Sedona arts community. Roberta is currently serving as a three
year term commissioner on the City of Sedona Arts and Culture Commission and Art in Public Places. Presently she also serves on the Sedona Gallery Association's Organization Committee for the Sedona Art Exchange, a stimulas program to support the arts.

Tom Lynch
< Background:
When you look at Tom Lynch’s watercolor paintings, be prepared to surrender your imagination to an exciting world of shimmering color and
captivating mood. Characterized by romantic quality of unusual and dramatic lighting, each painting is infused with a feeling for the passing time
and the essence of the moment. Whether his subjects are of the Southwest Red Rocks of Sedona, a sparkling winter’s day or the turbulent sky
or a serene lake, Tom developed the skill to capture that essence on both paper and the newly introduced of watercolor canvas.
Tom Lynch credentials include: election into the “Society of American Impressionists”, Who’s Who in American Art” and Signature
Membership in many national watercolor societies. He was honored with a one man exhibition in the American Embassy in Paris, France and
his paintings are included in many private and corporate collections throughout the world.
As a professional artist and teacher for over thirty years Tom Lynch is an international workshop instructor and the author of six books, four
television series and numerous videotapes.

Peter Mangan
Background:
Art has always been an important part of my life. This interest was fostered and encouraged by my mother who is also an artist. I attended one
of the first arts magnet high schools (Skyline) in Dallas, TX. I continued studying art through college, receiving my BFA from UT Austin in 1978.
My first exposure to working with glass was a job at John Kebrle Studio in Dallas. This was followed by working with Susan Stinsmuehlen
at Renaissance Glass in Austin, TX. Through Susan, I was able to assist her at the Pilchuck Glass School in Oregon in 1982 and 1983.
A move to San Francisco in 1979 expanded my artistic awareness. I worked in various glass studios in the Bay Area for eight years. At that
point I decided to attend graduate school at San Jose State University and received my MFA in 1987. For the last twenty years I have been a
self-employed artist. My artwork is shown and collected in the U.S.A. and internationally. When I look back on pivotal experiences,
certain events come to mind such as: my apprenticeship at Bullseye Glass Company in Portland, OR, 1983; being a Visiting Artist at the New
York Experimental Glass Center, 1988; and traveling around the world in 1996.
I enjoy creating sculpture. This exploration has ventured into areas such as: color, natural materials, representation, abstraction, functionality,
symbols and aesthetic beauty. I have tried to find and develop an original voice. This is an ongoing process that invigorates and sustains my
life. As my experiences broaden with age, travel, and continued learning, I look forward to seeing what new artistic developments will follow.
Since 1998, I have had two studios, one in San Francisco, CA and the other in Blanco, TX, in the heart of the Hill Country. The chance to live
and work in two locations has shaken things up and allowed new ideas to generate.
Jim Meissner
Background:
Raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, Jim's art interest began as a youth and was encouraged by his family. After college and formal commercial art training, Jim worked as creative director for an advertising agency. He won numerous awards for art direction as well as national ADDY awards. In 1974, Jim and his wife Suzanne started a commercial art studio, featuring corporate and product literature design. Color Ink, Inc. a full service printing, package design, finishing and distribution company was created in 1984. Many of Jim's fine art giclee prints are produced at the company located in Sussex, Wisconsin. Since 1984, Color Ink has evolved into one of the largest most advanced direct to plate sheet fed printing companies in the Midwest, serving clients throughout the United States and Canada.
Traveling to different parts of the world provides new subjects and points of reference for Jim's paintings. His personal favorites are the unique landscapes of Arizona with their rich warm colors. Jim Meissner currently exhibits at galleries in Wisconsin, Indiana, Arizona, and California. Jim is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Phoenix Art Museum as well as the Sedona Arts Center.
Jim and Suzanne are residents of Arizona, where they have a home and art studio.
Norma Cox Miller
One Person Exhibitions:
Norma Has had several one-person shows while living in California and Texas which contributed to her having work in private and
corporate collections in the United States as well as two solo exhibitions at Naffouj Gallery in Germany that were responsible
for her paintings being in homes and businesses in several European countries. Also, a fourteen year association with Sol del
Rio Gallery in San Antonio led to her having her art in many collections in Texas. In the spirit of rich abstraction
Norma creates paintings to live within. Using both collage and mixed mediums she invites the viewer into nature's
surfaces, ravines, dreams and vistas. She overlays materials such as old maps, postcards, old script letters, photographs or
musical scores that are hidden within her compositions.
Eileen Roberts
After an outstanding education in art throughout my early years in school and with private lessons, I was accepted at Pratt Institute in New York. I later
transferred to the State University of New York to continue my art education.
My career took me through teaching gifted children in the public school system and privately in adult education. I then worked as an art director twenty-five years doing a large variety of illustrating and designing. I continued combining commercial art for many companies balancing this with my love of painting canvases which were sold and also exhibited in shows from Hawaii to Washington, D.C.
Throughout my life I have been accepted in many juried shows and won numerous awards. Some of the more notable ones are:
It was an honor to have been selected as the first civilian woman combat artist for the United States Marine Corps in 1976 to present. Paintings are now in the Marine Corps Museum. A move in 2007 from California to Sedona was the beginning of a new painting chapter in this beautiful and stimulating place.

P. Ronald Schneider
Background:
Born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, P. Ronald Schneider received his formal education as an Electrical Engineer with a masters in
Business Administration. Job transfers brought him to Arizona in 1973 and the exposure to many different types of art exhibited in the
Southwest encouraged him to try his hand at becoming an”artist.” He soon realized that the logical brain of an engineer could think about what
the final product should look like but there was considerable “skill” required to connect concept with the finished product.
P. Ronald Schneider’s first endeavors consisted of some sculpting and lost wax silver casting before settling upon a mixed media type of format
for the wall hangings. “I love the Southwest architecture, particularly that which is aged, weathered or in disrepair; for I believe the true art is in
replicating these conditions, not just in copying them.”
“I am currently producing a series of portals, labeled America’s Front Doors featuring doorways, archways, building fronts and windows typical
of those found in the Southwest. Most are replicas of actual buildings discovered in my travels and readings.”
P. Ronald Schneider exhibits at the Sedona Arts Center and Kinion Fine Art, Sedona, Arizona.
Carolyn Travisano
Background:
Carolyn Travisano discovered her love for art early in life. She attributes much of her passion for art to her father who enjoyed woodcarving and painting.
“My first memories are literally of my father, oil painting and wood carving,” she said. “Watching him create was very inspiring - he would
transform a hunk of wood or blank canvas into a work of art - it was fascinating and had a strong effect on me.”
Soon, she was picking up a brush or pencil and creating her own work, which received attention right from the start. Travisano earned numerous
awards, including scholarships and admission to Ringling School of Art and Design, in Sarasota, Fla. There, she was formally trained as an
illustrator and garnered mention in Who’s Who Among College Students.
Her greatest influence? “My life changed in Sarasota when I was first exposed to the work of artists Robert Bateman and Frank Howell. Howell’s
mystical images of Native American people took my breath away.” “When I looked at their faces, I felt what they had experienced. Every wrinkle
on their face told a different story,” said Travisano. Desiring to see all the southwestern art she could, Travisano took many trips to New Mexico
and Arizona, including the Frank Howell Gallery, in Santa Fe. She finally moved to Sedona,AZ eight years ago as many of the artists that
inspire her today are live and work in local area.

the exciting world of color and light. In 1981 I moved to the Grand Canyon and worked as a mule guide for three years. Though the long hours
allowed me little time for painting, it did provide a livelihood and a magnificent landscape of an extraordinary visual playground and a constant
source of artistic inspiration. In 1984, trained as a skilled hairdresser, I gave up my out door adventure to serve as owner and operator of the
Bight Angel Hair Design on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for the next sixteen years. I coordinated the Art Exhibitions on the North Porch
of the El Tovar Hotel for six years and continued to paint and sell my art. Many of the images were of my favorite subject matter, the panoramic
Grand Canyon. I completed oil painting classes taught by Tom Darrow at the Scottsdale Art Institute which brought me again closer to painting.

My art life has been one of transition, taking me from commercial design and teaching back to my first love — painting. The works range from pure
abstraction to landscape impressions. After a life of travelling, I have finally settled into a version of abstract landscapes in which I present an
emotional response to what I have seen in my journeys. Somehow a love of hiking in the mountains out west has prompted me to paint vast skies,
deserts and mountains with a romantic, glowing feeling.
